SKISAT is a 10*10*10 cm Cube satellite, the weight of the SKISAT is 800 grams. SKISAT is made up of Aluminium flight Metal (Al 6061) the same metal goes into making of the commercial airplanes. The satellite is named after the organization Space Kidz India (SKI). Being the first CubeSat made by team Space Kidz India it was named as SKISAT.
SKISAT was a sub-orbital flight launched on a reusable rocket named SARGE (Suborbital Autonomous Rocket with Guidance) carrying 27 payload on board. The launch took place from Spaceport America, New Mexico, USA and the launch window was from 9:30 PM to 12:30 PM IST on 25th August 2018.
Cubesats are a class of research spacecraft called nanosatellites. Cubesats are built to standard dimensions (Units or “U”) of 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm. They can be 1U, 2U, 3U, or 6U in size, and typically weigh less than 1.33 kg (3 lbs) per U.
