Introduction

Dr. Srimathy, Founder & CEO of a leading Indian Aerospace Startup Space Kidz India, is pioneering in the design, fabrication, and launch of small satellites, spacecraft, and ground systems. Her goal is to provide economical and sustainable access to space to cater to the needs of education, research, and industry. With 7+ years of experience, we have launched 19+ BalloonSats, 3 Suborbital Payloads, and 5 Orbital Satellites, including the World’s Smallest and Lightest Satellite- KALAMSAT", which was launched by NASA and 4 other Orbital satellites, KalamsatV-2, SD SAT, AzaadiSAT, and AzaadiSAT 2.0 by ISRO. She is the only Indian to be decorated with the Ambassador status to the top 3 Space centers of the World, NASA, ESA, and GCTC - Moscow. Apart from taking children to these research centers for hands-on Space training, Rocket building and launching techniques, Satellite making.

"Dr. Srimathy Kesan became the first woman from India to experience zero gravity flight, along with Astronaut Moon Walker Charles Duke, the first woman engineer of the Apollo mission, Ms. Poppy, Astronaut Richard Garriott, and Astronaut Wrangler Christina Korp”.

Dr. Srimathy Kesan is a staunch believer of “Actions speak Louder than words”. More than writing research papers, she practically embarks on experimenting with all the problem quotients in Space through balloon satellites and cube satellites. She is the only woman founder to be selected in the iDEX Challenge and Aditi Challenge.

Recent Mission: Orbital Satellite - AzaadiSAT

AzaadiSAT is a MicroSat weighing 8 Kg, designed and built by the student teams at Space Kidz India. "AzaadiSAT” is not an ordinary satellite; it is the emotions of 750 rural students from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. 75 payloads built by these girl students have been integrated by the student team of Space Kidz India.

Space Kidz India trained those students, provided them support, and developed the experiments. After that, the experiments have been placed inside a customized 8U Satellite Bus and launched into Low Earth Orbit to conduct a study and get results.

THIS IS A 1st OF ITS KIND SPACE MISSION WITH AN ‘ALL WOMEN CONCEPT’ TO PROMOTE WOMEN IN STEM, AS THIS YEAR’S UN THEME IS “WOMEN IN SPACE”.

It has been a dream of Dr. Srimathy Kesan to bring on board, 1st time ever in the World, so many girl students and build a Satellite.

This project was specially conceptualized for the 75th Indian Independence Day, Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. A Pride for the nation and an inspiration for many, many girls to think about Space as their career. It was not an easy task to bring in 750 students from all over the Country yet Dr. Kesan and her team deter were determined to embark on this journey.
